Martin the Marlin
About
This children's book, written in verse, tells the story of a young boy who wants to buy a goldfish, only to discover he's brought home a marlin, instead. It's a tale of love and sadness, redeemed by lasting friendship.
It's appropriate for children of all ages, whether having it read to them by an adult or reading it themselves.
Praise for this book
We received this book as a gift and have only had it for about a week and I have probably easily read it over 100 times! Even my 12 year old enjoys reading this book to his younger siblings. My 1 and 2 year old children love to actually sit and listen to the story. The rhyming makes it a fun read! The story is beautiful and I'm sure we will read it 100 times and more!
This is a wonderfully written story with a great message of friendship and love. My 5-year old absolutely loved it and asks me to read to her nightly. I've also read it to her older cousins (6 & 7), who loved it at well. The illustrations are very colorful. This book is a heartwarming tale that will remain in our library for many years.
I have worked with the author, Mark O'Brien, for many years. When he told me his children's book, Martin the Marlin, would be published, I was ecstatic. Mark is one of my favorite writers, and this book is wonderful. I bought a copy as soon as it was released, and I look forward to giving it to my niece who will be four in September.
The story is fun, heartfelt and warming to the soul. It delights children while it reminds the adult reader.
A delightful "tail" for parents and kids to share! Mark O'Brien is a gifted writer - and although this is his first children's book, I doubt it will be his last! His kind heart shines through his words, warming the hearts of those lucky enough to read them! And the illustrations are wonderful!
