Praise for this book
The first story I read by Mark O'Brien, Blood on the Tracks, was so funny, in the style of Mark Twain, that I wrote about that comparison in my review of the piece. So when I went looking for another O'Brien story to read, I was delighted to find one titled Never the Twain Shall Meet: The History of Hartford and the Bushnell Park Fountain by Mark Twain.
It's an insightful piece about the history of Hartford, Connecticut, focusing on Bushnell Park and the fountain there. The history is interesting because of the detail O'Brien provides and the entertaining Twainian tone of the piece.
It makes me wish the story were a chapter in a larger history, so that I could read more of it.
